NMW Racing

There are very few people who can make a bike talk, and even fewer who can really talk to a bike.

Over the past few years my stay in different parts of the country have brought me in contact with some quirky, some eccentric, some talented, some passionate performance tuners, none so far come close to the genius and thoroughness of Nisar Khan.

The regulars at his workshop swear by his knowledge and expertise, we in turn have decided to reciprocate by leveraging our area of competence to help aspiring bikers out there get their machines to competition shape and also provide guidance on Racing, Tuning, Modifications, Touring, Stunting, anything you want to know of or about and hopefully develop into a pure-bred Racing Team in the years to come.

For those who dont know, Nisars bikes have been famous for under-promising and over-deliviring. Whether blowing a CBR600 off on a RD350 or doing to same to an RD on an RX. Check your random bike mags for passing info on details of these deeds.

I is Back... and Happy!

Observing 2 minutes silence:

No, no one died, its to allow ya'll to cuss and diss about my uninformed and rather long absence! :-)

Oh awright fuck the 2 minutes silence, we can observe that later when someone kicks the bucket. I am back again! Will probably disappear soon enough but had to share this with you, him, her, it, anyone and anything!

Never ask for whom the bells toll they said, when the wedding bells did, they changed me more than I can imagine. A lot has happened since my last voluntary absence. Which I shall share with ya'll later. But for now let me share the smile on my face with you. Really smug I assure you.

This post is something I will cherish for long. After a long, maybe too long, time, I felt like a little child again back in college. Back when the nickname Mad Max was forced on me, a name I resented, didnt understand fully until many years later.

The Event: A friend wants to sell his spanking 06 YZF-R1. Now those who know me know that I prefer Kwackers, I do own an R1 but that wont stop me from poking fun at it whenever the opportunity arises. The bikes pretty much suck, I think Yamaha should stop making them (that includes that new cross plane crankshaft thingy which from what I hear does nothing except sound like a motogp replica racer, oh yeah, thats why I want a SBK, because it sounds like a GP bike. Gawd help us!, more on that later, psst, do check out the new ZX-10R though) but then I will probably be in a majority of one with many, countless haters for my rather blasphemous statements against the mighty 1!

Continuing: Said friend hands me keys and says he wants it sold and needs help. Me and a budding, very talented racer got in it, him pillion. The distance from JP Nagar to Banaswadi is not a very long one, but traffic and the routes make it a ride not worth looking forward to. We headed instead to my first psuedo race-track: The Inner Ring Road. If ever I have felt that childish innocence post adoloscence, a time when fresh air made one happy and little things provided ample food for thought, that was today. It felt really ncie to let loose. Ego boost? False Pride? Stupid? Life Threatening? Naah, just some harmless fun, we were always in perfect control.

We dusted the distance in pretty amazing time, what is important, is that we did it holding a few aces back. It was one fun ride. Wish the R1 had more mid range but then I guess it wheezed out all we could squeeze out of it anyway (damn shame, we could have gone for the land speed record otherwise, Ghost Rider who? hee hee). Autos flying past, cars stationary, bikes scattered, everything a blur, 3 times over the speed limit on some instances, a priceless smoke and well made coffee. A day well lived. Mad Max was back. :-)

Arjun: If you read this: Thanks for being such a sport ;-) Wont happen again. Promise. Except maybe if you want to set the record right with the sweeping right hander which we couldnt tackle through the sardine can traffic! :-p Thats an offer, you can refuse.

Anyone with a good tank mount for a repeat? Not anytime soon, but surely someday :-)

Cheers,

Max

Yamaha R15.... blog post comments...

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for having been away! Been sick, been busy, been here and there, been generally fucked up! :-) But then, arent we all!

Popped in to check my mail and saw a lot of comments pouring for my rather controversial post on the Yamaha R15 (YZF? Really?)

Before reading ahead, please check my original post (the one with my thoughts..) HERE, then read a really interesting reader feedback HERE, after which I wanted to know if I was indeed the only one on planet India who wasn't smitten by the baby (infantile?) R1 so you can also check the poll update for the R15 and its benefits HERE, after which, please take a look at the poll results over HERE.

Having said that, here's a little note to the people who differ with me:

<> I dont own an R15, probably never will so I really dont care!
<> If you have the money, you like the bike, GO BUY IT! Dont worry about what some fuckhead on the Internet has to say about it, good or bad. Its as simple as that. I'll give you an example, Journos around the world pretty much panned the 2005 ZX10R for various reasons, and am hunting for that bike like Indiana Jones on another crusade!
<> If you like the bike, you have the money, you own the bike, ENJOY THE BIKE! Dont spend time on the Internet reading what others have to say about it!
<> My views, are MY views, which is why the blog in the first place! Rather self explanatory I should think no?! Some agree, some dont! Dont try to win me over, you cant, I have my views, I respect yours, but arguing it out might certainly help both of us learn something out of it!

<> Most importantly: (which is why this bullet is separate from the rest:

If you dont know much about riding bikes, please dont even bother commenting on the technalities involved, am neither hungry for comments, nor for the hits, as a matter of fact, am so fucking self obsessed I can read my own blog over and over (which I used to before taking it public!) You probably would think me a mannerless psycho, I couldnt agree more! But in the name of the Lord, Jesus, Mary, Joseph, or whoever else you believe in, Please don't try to sell me the R15... because I grew up on RD350s and RX100s... I think I know a thing or two more about Yamaha bikes than the R15 generation....

Oh and by the way, I just happen to own a Yamaha YZF-R1 ... and an RD350. So I think I know where am coming from when I say what I have to say about the R15, and am rather surprised at some of the responses because I have always maintained that it is a GOOD BIKE! Just over-priced... (which is when all the other points come into play)
